On Wednesday, Sept. 3, David Flood visited the students of BJSHS, speaking about how loneliness affects people, how it can hinder one’s mental state, and suggesting that it’s sometimes better to show empathy rather than sympathy. For that, Flood gave the students three simple challenges.
Challenge one: Look on the inside. Don’t just keep judging people for who they are on the outside.
Challenge two: Thank two adults. The students should hold eye contact for nine seconds as they express their gratitude.
Challenge three: No one eats alone. Everyone should share a meal with someone; it has a greater impact than you think.
“David was a down-to-earth guy. I liked his New York accent,” BJSHS sophomore Reese Richards commented.
