Senior Autumn Lorenz recently spoke to the junior high student body to tell her story of a seatbelt saving her life. Lorenz has only spoken to the junior high, but she hopes to speak to the elementary and high school bodies as well. Lorenz says she wanted to do the speech because “[she] wanted to educate [students] about the safety of wearing their seatbelts.”
Lorenz spoke about her experience and gave students helpful tips to use if they are ever in a similar situation. She warned students that it is important to always wear your seatbelt, because she was only five minutes away from home when the crash happened. She also told students the importance of knowing who to call if you are in trouble, like 911, a friend nearby, or your parents.
Lorenz passes on the message: “Joining SAFE can help educate you and you can help educate others about the importance of wearing your seatbelt. Because I wore my seatbelt, I am able to be here today telling everyone my story.”
