Trojan Threads held its opening night on Oct. 7 during the home volleyball matches. Trojan Threads aims to provide our community with Trojan fanwear, including traditional Trojan wear and sports apparel. As our community is currently underserved in this industry, Trojan Threads is here to fill that gap.
In the spring of 2021 when she was still a senior in high school, current BHS teacher Mrs. Alexa Romero competed in the local Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge and Trojan Threads was her business idea. She won a cash prize for her presentation of Trojan Threads. Mrs. Cathy Harris (the teacher at that time) taught the business classes and helped with Trojan Threads. Unfortunately, the business ran into some roadblocks.
Several items were sold during the Oct. 7 open night, such as hats, beanies, pom-poms, shirts, crewnecks, onesies, seat cushions, and other wears that students have designed. The business leadership class primarily works on the items, but a few other students might be seen helping as well.
Romero is in charge of Trojan Threads. Even though Romero is in charge, there are also 10 students and some other helpers who have come together to make it all happen.
Trojan Threads has several plans for the future. They want to produce high-quality items not only for the fans, but also for the community, and more.
Romero’s goal is to be able to expand service to the public for use as well. “In five years, I would like to see a staffed store throughout school hours so that the community could shop or pick up things, rather than games only.”
Another plan is to be open during select game nights and eventually have a pop-up shop.
