Emile Lechien is one of three foreign exchange students at Beloit High this year. Lechien lives with Dr. Marty and Fran Klenda. He decided to come to the U.S. for his exchange year because he wanted to come play sports, meet new people, and take a year off before going to college.
When asked how he likes being in Beloit, he said, “It’s tiny, but the people are really nice.” Lechien comes from a big city in Belgium and has three sisters. He can speak Dutch and French. He wants everyone to know “there is no such language as Belgian.”
He played football and is out for basketball as well. He is planning on either track or golf in the spring. Lechien’s future plans are to go back to Belgium and study engineering.
