Mr. Robert McCreight was born in Illinois, eventually moved to Ellsworth County, Kan. and graduated from Ellsworth Jr./Sr. High School. Previously, in 1979-1980, his parents bought him an Apple Two and that was the start of him falling in love with computers. He also loved the teaching components that came with it. As a result, he thought teaching computers was a good fit for him. He then furthered his education and went to K-State and obtained a bachelor’s degree in business and computer education.
He taught in Jewell for 12 years, then taught at NCK Tech for 10 years, moved to an IT position at NCK Tech, and then recently transferred to Beloit High School. He said coming to Beloit High seemed like a natural progression of what he was doing professionally, as it kept him in education and got him back to K-12 roots. He adds that his favorite part of his job is successfully solving big issues.
This summer he got organized and is still trying to figure some things out and he is starting to pick up on people’s names. He sees himself in the near future here at Beloit High! One piece of advice he has for students is: the difference between success and failure is effort. We are so glad to have you, Mr. McCreight!
