BHS students who will be juniors or seniors in 2026 have the opportunity to go on a school-organized trip to Washington, DC over spring break 2026. About 12-15 students have signed up so far, but you may still sign up until around next Christmas. The cost if you sign up soon is around $2100, and you can set up a plan to pay in smaller increments if you would like. There are also opportunities for you to raise money toward your trip payment through a Christmas dinner for the district office, concession opportunities, and fundraising. You can raise almost all of the money for your trip by taking advantage of these opportunities. Some BHS teachers will also come on the trip depending on how many students sign up.
Mr. Casey Seyfert has taken students on this trip about 15 times since 2005, and the trip usually happens every other year with juniors and seniors. STEM kids have also gone on the trip. Seyfert says that the purpose of the trip is, “Seeing our nation’s capital, seeing how our government is in action, seeing actual documents, how our government works and started, going to the Pentagon… getting kids out of Central Kansas… doing things that they don’t normally get to, and seeing and understanding the symbolism of our government and the foundation.”
