Beloit High seniors took advantage of the Apply Kansas free days on Oct. 7 during their personal finance class. The Apply Kansas free days apply to anyone, regardless of age or income. Residents who are applying for undergraduate programs at all state, public, or private Kansas colleges can fill out an application for free Oct. 7-9.
The goal for the program is to teach students how to apply, help them with the application process, assist them on developing an academic plan after high school, educate them on the power of post-secondary education, and celebrate them and the path they are choosing. High school counselor Mrs. Brennan Eilert and teacher Mrs. Josie Burke helped students navigate through the college application process as needed.
Many seniors applied for at least two colleges. Seniors who are not planning to apply to college applied instead for a branch of the military, cosmetology school, a certificate or a job.
“On Apply Kansas free day, I applied to Fort Hays Tech,” said senior Jayden Mosher.
Mrs. Burke adds, “It was a wonderful day to see the senior students opening doors for their futures. Almost all students applied somewhere, whether it was a post-secondary institution or a job. This opportunity for our students is something that allows them to take that next step in planning life after high school.”
