The Beloit High School scholars’ bowl team hosted its annual invitational meet on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Staff and students had the opportunity to volunteer their time setting up and helping with the meet alongside the high school team members. This year’s new scholars’ bowl coach, Mrs. Aimee Buckland, organized the meet with the help of Ms. Cay Wildfong, the previous coach. Sacred Heart took first place, Ellsworth took second, and St. John’s took third.
Buckland says that, “a lot” goes into the planning and execution of a meet, and it was about a month-long process between her and Wildfong. First, an invitation to the meet had to be sent to schools, as well as answering questions or comments other schools may have about the meet. Then, Buckland and Wildfong worked on writing questions for the meet because, if you don’t, questions have to be bought from another company. They also had to schedule the rounds of the meet to ensure that all the teams competed against one another. Lastly, Buckland got snacks to serve to teams and helpers at the meet.
