Senior Mason Thompson was recently honored with the Outstanding Musician Award at the 31st Annual Kansas State University Concert Band Clinic held Jan. 19-21. This award offers the recipient a $750 scholarship for KSU band programs in the fall. Students are selected for awards based on how they perform in their auditions and every student attending the clinic must audition.
Besides Thompson, other students attending the clinic were Jayden Brooks, Zelma Krone, and Mya Mihm, who were all selected for the Honor Band, and Abby Gantz, Maddie Black, Gatley Wichyoah and Ally Otte, who were selected for other bands based on their auditions.
Thompson plans to attend Kansas State University to major in mechanical engineering and minor in music performance, as well as participate in the band.
