On Wednesday, Oct. 9, the Beloit seventh grade class took a field trip to the Eisenhower Presidential Museum in Abilene. The class takes a trip every year. Pre-Covid, the seventh and eighth grade classes combined to take an annual trip to the State Capital building. Now, the seventh grade class takes a trip to the Eisenhower Museum in the fall, and the eighth grade class takes a trip to the Hutchinson salt mines in the spring.
The seventh grade trip is educationally-based and corresponds to the topics they are currently learning about in social studies class. Mrs. Kathi Boden, Mrs. Stephanie Litton, and Mr. Kyle Beisner accompanied the class on its trip. At the museum, students were able to learn about Dwight. D. Eisenhower’s life, “From growing up in a small town, to his education, to being commander, to his presidency, to his legacy,” says Litton.
Seventh grader Matthew Gilbert says that on the trip, he, “Learned that the president was buried there.”
Seventh grader Reed Adams says that his favorite part of the trip was seeing an exhibit that showed where the wars were in a visual way.
