Zelma Krone was recently selected to be a member of the KMEA 1-4A State Band. Being in this band is the highest honor you can receive as a high school band student. There are only eight French horn players selected in the state, and Krone earned fourth chair. In addition to Krone, four other BHS students, Ally Otte, McKinley Bates, Chance Ullom, and Vanessa Strathman, went to Salina for the live audition that gave them the chance to be selected for the State Band. Strathman was selected as the baritone saxophone alternate.Â
Krone is a senior who has been the marching band drum major for two years and a member of the dance team for four. Her rehearsals for the 1-4A State Band concert will be Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 26-28 in Wichita. She will perform alongside the rest of the State Band on Feb. 28 in the Century II Concert Hall at 5 pm.Â
