Spring sports have officially started. There are currently 18 girls out for the softball team. The key returners include McKenna Channell, Karlie Smith, Samantha Thompson, and Allie Bourbon, and they have a motivated crew of additional seniors and underclassmen who show up ready to work and challenge each other every day.
“As far as the season goes, my expectations are for each player to give each play and each rep their full effort and continuously communicate with their teammates. Focusing on personal fundamentals first allows the team to work together fluidly to accomplish larger goals together. We have the opportunity to play strong competition across our schedule, and our goal is to maintain focus on the next game in front of us at all times,” said Taegen Meier, who is coaching Lady Trojan softball for the first time this year after previously coaching for another school.
The Lady Trojan varsity record is 2-0 after defeating Concordia at home on March 31.
The next varsity competition will be April 2 when the Lady Trojans host Ellsworth.
