The Concordia Invitational track meet on April 9 was delayed and then cancelled due to lightning strikes after most of the field events and the 4×800 meter run. Before the track meet was cancelled, some Beloit athletes took the opportunity to win the Trojans some medals.Â
Bently Pruitt earned 1st place in the shot put and 2nd in pole vault. Brecken Boudreaux earned 2nd place in the long jump. Keira Rabe, Rowan Richards, Mackenzy Goodaker, and Reese Richards earned 3rd place in the 4×800. The Beloit Trojans will participate in the Redman Relays at Smith Center High School on Tuesday, April 14.
The Beloit High track team season is off to a good start. With girls placing 1st with 187 points and boys placing 2nd with 94 points at their first meet, head coach Ryan Isbell is impressed. “Both the boys’ and girls’ teams competed very well for the first meet of the season.”Â
Overall, the Beloit team amassed 54 medals, 17 of which were gold. A list of gold medal winners is below. An impressive highlight of the night was the girls’ long jump school record of 18’5¼” (L. Schaumburg, 2007) being broken by Brecken Boudreaux, with a jump of 19’4¼”.Â
It seems that the track team is locked in and ready for a season of impressive performances. The team returns to the track on Thursday, April 9, at the Concordia Invitational.
