After four candidates were interviewed for the role of superintendent, current Beloit High principal Casey Seyfert was chosen as the next leader of USD 273. After he was named superintendent, we decided to ask Seyfert a few questions.
WILL YOU CONTINUE COACHING TRACK AND FOOTBALL?
Seyfert will likely not be coaching football full-time next year. He is hoping to help out with football games as much as he can. Seyfert is planning on a coaching track, but will have to make sure he can maintain the balance that he currently has.
WHY DID YOU WANT TO APPLY FOR THE SUPERINTENDENT POSITION?
According to Seyfert, he applied for superintendent because he loves the school and community and wants to give back to as many students as possible. “The success of our district is the number one priority, and that includes all students. I believe our young students are well-prepared for their transition to the jr.-sr. high school, and I am excited to be a part of that process,” he stated.
WHY DID YOU WANT TO BE A PRINCIPAL (HIS CURRENT JOB)?
The best part of being a principal for Seyfert is being able to watch kids grow and change over time. “Getting to celebrate all of their successes is one of the best parts of my job,” said Seyfert.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT WORKING WITH THE STUDENTS?
Seyfert loves learning from his students and watching them grow. Students embrace new ideas, and it’s fantastic to see their excitement about the future. Witnessing their development and passion reinforces his belief in the transformative power of education.
WHAT PLANS DO YOU HAVE FOR THE FUTURE AS THE SUPERINTENDENT?
Seyfert is looking forward to the continued success of the USD 273 district and is excited to work with such a great group of educators and the best students in the state. “We have high standards, and maintaining those standards will be a major focus in the years to come,” he stated.
