Feb. 20 was Beloit High Student Council’s 17th annual charity event and the group raised $6,000 by the end of Friday night’s games. StuCo collected funds for the Breast Friends Foundation, originally founded by Chelsi Remus and Dee Winkel after both had encounters with cancer. They started this foundation to support those with cancer and to remind them that “no one fights alone.” Breast Friends Foundation holds fundraisers and bake sales and 100% of the profit goes to local cancer patients.
StuCo raised $5,050 from sponsor donations and t-shirt sales, ending with a total $6,000 after passing baskets through the crowd in the stands Friday night. The charity event included a video with a voiceover about the event. A portion of the voiceover stated, “We are so grateful that we live in a community that supports us in each and every activity we do. We love giving back to this community that has given so much to us.”
